Problem of Indonesia Renewable Energy Development

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 Posted by Galih Eka Priminta , , , , , No comments
Indonesia is a country with enormous energy resource potential. But unfortunately Indonesia still has not able to optimize its resources, especially concerning energy supply to it citizen. Some of Indonesian citizens still do not have access to electricity and the rest of it does not have any guarantee on the availability of energy supply. Sometime we should prepare candle and generator to continue our activity. Not only electricity, in some areas, it is still difficult to obtain gas needed to cook. This problem affects our productivity and it affects our economy. This problem has not been solved until now.

ABSTRACT :The increasing human population and rising standard of living hence increase energy demand as well. Electric power is vital requirement for economic and social development. The availability and reliability of sufficient, safe, and affordable electric power are important factors in order to build an economical system of a country that is able to enhance people’s welfare.
From the data of electric energy consumption in Indonesia, most of the electricity used was generated from fossil fueled power stations. These fossil fueled power stations utilize unrenewable natural resources. Conversely, in the same time, the utilization of renewable energy resouces is still less competitive if compared to the utilization of unrenewable energy resources. However, for rural/suburb areas, the technology of electric energy generation from renewable resources is so convenient. In addition, the utilization of the renewable energy resource also helps improving the electrical system, that is usually has low reliability level in those rural areas. The technology that will be implemented has to be cheap, practical, eco-friendly, economically cost, and sustainable. The technology is also supposed to be supportive to the activities of people nearby. One of the suitable technologies is the technology of bioenergy utilization from biomass.
Energy from biomass can be obtained from various methods, one is to utilize the biogas produced from those biomasses. Biomass can be either organic waste or feces. These biowaste are usually unnoticeable and left unprocessed, whereas it is really easy to find these energy resources around us. One of those resources is the human feces. The human fecesis so abundant and easy to find in any settlement. The technology that utilizes conventional biowaste would be more productive if its energy resources be combined with human feces. The combination results sanitation-system-integrated biogas reactor.
